The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's (NBC) programme on current affairs, Namibia Connects, has scooped a Gold Media Award in the media category for its outstanding coverage and advocacy on the work of the Namibia Blood Transfusion Services.
The awards honours dedicated blood donors and corporate institutions for their contributions to the nation's blood supply.
Namibia Connects was introduced in 2024 at the national broadcaster.
The programme airs daily from Monday to Friday from 10H00 util 12H30 and includes local and international news.
Producer of the programme, Elifas Bonifatius, expressed his appreciation for the award.
“Definitely, on behalf of the crew, we are always making sure that this programme goes on a daily basis. I should say, I am truly humbled and grateful for this award. We really, really deserve it.”
A series of institutional and individual awards were handed out in recognition of those who went the extra mile in hosting blood donor clinics and advocating for community health.
Eros Girl School scooped two awards for its dedication and commitment to promoting an education drive on blood transfusion among its peers and the community.
The day also served as a call to action for citizens to donate blood and ultimately save lives.
