Namibia's National Policy on Qualification Standards has been described as directly influencing the quality of skills available to employers and industries across Namibia.
The Governor of Oshikoto Region, Sacky Kathindi, shared that the policy sets a standard for qualifications during a stakeholder meeting in Omuthiya.
Kathindi stressed that it is imperative that the qualification awarded in the country reflect not only academic achievement but also the competencies and practical skills required by the labour market and society.
“The National Policy on Qualification Standards comes at a crucial time in our nation's development journey by establishing clear minimum standards for qualifications registered on the National Qualification Framework. The policy seeks to safeguard quality, promote consistency, and ensure that every learner who graduates from our institutions possesses the knowledge and skills expected at their respective qualification levels.”
NQA Head of Qualifications Joseph Amunyela said that the new policy will strengthen Namibia's evaluation and verification of qualifications and help improve the standard of education and employment.
The National Policy on Qualification Standards seeks to establish a coherent and nationally recognised framework for the development, validation, and quality assurance of qualifications.
The policy aims to strengthen the credibility, consistency, and recognition of qualifications across the education and training sector.
