The Embassy of Iran in Windhoek says Iran and the United States are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on Friday.

This follows an agreement aimed at ending more than three months of conflict between the two countries.

According to the embassy, a preliminary memorandum of understanding was reached on Sunday.

The embassy said the core terms of the agreement provide for an immediate and permanent end to war and military operations on all fronts.

It also said the United States has agreed to end its naval blockade as part of the arrangement.

According to the embassy, negotiations on a final agreement will be postponed until the United States has fulfilled its obligations under the memorandum of understanding.

The embassy said the implementation of the U.S. commitments will serve as a test of trust for the Iranian leadership.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday announced he has authorised the immediate removal of the U.S. naval blockade at the Strait of Hormuz.
