Namibia and Turkey parliaments solidify bilateral relations

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, and his Turkish counterpart, Professor Numan Kurtulmuş, have strengthened bilateral relations between their countries by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance parliamentary cooperation.

The signing ceremony took place in Istanbul, concluding Professor Katjavivi's official visit to Turkey, which was extended upon Kurtulmuş's invitation. The MoU includes joint meetings involving the standing committees of both legislatures and facilitates exchange visits by administrative staff.

NSA, ECN sign MoU

The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) and the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together in preparing accurate voter lists and ensuring that the logistics of conducting elections smoothly are in place.

The MOU will enable ECN to know how many eligible voters there are in each constituency from the NSA census data collection. The two institutions will work together to develop ICT systems such as e-recruitment and information dissemination and cooperate in the provision of transport for field work.

NIPDB and Oranjemund sign MoU

The Namibia Investment and Promotion Development Board (NIPDB) and OMDis Town Transform Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at the former mining town of Oranjemund and across the ||Kharas Region.

OMDis Town Transform Agency is a Section 21 Company, and its sole purpose is to accelerate the transformation of the former diamond mining town of Oranjemund through economic diversification.

The company had received seed funding from the mining giant Namdeb.

MoHSS and WHO's MoU to contribute to Namibia's preparedness in addressing pandemics challenges

The recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the World Health Organisation (WHO) will greatly contribute to Namibia's preparedness in addressing the challenges presented by global pandemics. 

President Hage Geingob praised the agreement during a farewell courtesy call by Dr. Charles Sagoe-Moses, outgoing Country Representative of the WHO, at the State House.

Otjozondjupa Regional Council & WFP promote sustainable food systems in the region

The Otjozondjupa Regional Council has joined forces in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to promote sustainable food systems in the region.

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which would see them come up with innovative programmes in food production aimed at improving the social and economic standards of the region's inhabitants.

Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chairperson Marlayn Mbakera said the agreement is needed as the country faces challenges in addressing food security and nutrition.

NSFAF and Welwitschia Health Training Centre sign MoU

The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) and the Welwitschia Health Training Centre have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, aimed at financially assisting students at the institution.

The MoU will allow students to write exams and view their results while payments are being settled.

NSFAF acting CEO Kennedy Kandume called on students to ensure that their documents are in order and submitted on time to avoid delays and withdrawals, noting that the institution would try to ensure payments are done on time.
