The Namibia College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) and Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in open and distance learning.

The agreement covers governance, curriculum development, research, quality assurance, student and staff exchanges, and collaboration with education regulators in Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Open University Vice-Chancellor Professor Allonzo Dzobo said the partnership will allow the two institutions to learn from each other's experiences and improve higher education in the region.

Speaking on behalf of NAMCOL CEO Dr. Albert Kulobone, Acting CEO Francisco Mbeha said the collaboration supports NAMCOL's goal of attaining university status within the next five years, with ZOU expected to provide guidance based on its experience in helping institutions transition into universities.

Both institutions say the partnership will promote educational excellence and expand opportunities for students and staff in the region.
