Mourners at the memorial service of the late Gaob of the |Hai|om San Traditional Authority, Dawid ||Khamuxab, have described him as a true servant of the people who led his clan without fail.
 
Speaker after speaker in Outjo's town community hall said ||Khamuxab provided sound leadership and courage to influence economic empowerment and social programmes to benefit the San communities.
 
The late 75-year-old Goab Dawid ||Khamuxab died on 26 May.
 
Swapo Party District Representative Stefanus /Awaseb shared his personal experience with the Chief.

 "I personally admired his remarkable composure, calm demeanour, and calculated approach to addressing the challenges facing his subjects. He was deeply concerned about the well-being of his people and leaves behind a strong legacy that many generations after him will remember and emulate."

Principal of Jack Francis Primary School Priscilla Benjamin honoured his contribution to the education sector.

"His resilience, dignity and cultural pride will live on in our hearts and classrooms forever. To the bereaved family, please know that the thoughts and prayers of the entire Francis family are with you. We pray that you find comfort, solace and strength in the beautiful memories of the towering legacy he lives behind."
 
Deputy Mayor of Outjo Martha Seibes gave a message of condolences to the family members. 

"The passing of a leader leaves a deep void in the hearts of the family, his people and all those whose lives he touched. We share in your sorrow and pray that God grants you comfort and peace."
 
 ||Hai|Om Community member Cherlon ||Aises also commended his contribution to his people.

"He was a guardian of culture and tradition. He carried the customs of our ancestors with pride and ensured that they were passed down to the next generation. Because of him, we know who we are today."

In 2024 ||Khamuxab stepped down due to ill health and handed over his chieftaincy to his son, Alfred ||Khamuxab, who was later coronated as the new Gaob in September 2025.

||Khamuxab will be buried at Seeringkop in Kunene Region on Saturday.
