The Namibia Airports Company (NAC), in partnership with Airports Council International Africa, has officially launched the Africa Aircraft Recovery Management Course in Windhoek.
The training brings together aviation professionals from across the continent to strengthen aircraft recovery capabilities and enhance aviation safety.
The five-day training is being delivered as part of the African Airports Development Programme.
NAC Executive for Human Resources, Josephine Garises, who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Bisey Uirab, highlighted that these initiatives aim to strengthen aviation safety, operational excellence and professional capacity across the continent through specialised training, technical support and peer-to-peer collaboration.
"We firmly believe investing in people is the foundation of sustainable growth and operational excellence. Capacity building, collaboration and knowledge sharing remain key pillars of our strategic objectives over the next five years."
Resqtec Aircraft Recovery Training Instructor Ramzy Suliman said it's important for all airport managers to understand aircraft recovery operations and planning.
Suliman said the training would help airport managers plan their aircraft recovery in advance in case of an emergency.
"We hope that nobody ever gets to deal with an emergency such as this where an aircraft is disabled and the aircraft is shut down; however, this week prepares everybody for what to expect and to plan ahead so that the removal process is very fast."
