The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Dino Ballotti, paid a courtesy visit yesterday to coaches taking part in the CAF B Coaching Diploma at the NFA Technical Centre, where he encouraged participants to make the most of the coaching programme. The visit highlighted government support for coach education and football development in Namibia.

Addressing the coaches, Ballotti shared his coaching journey and reflected on the experiences that shaped his career in football. He encouraged participants to remain committed throughout the course, saying the knowledge and skills they gain will benefit them as coaches and contribute to the growth of football in Namibia.

Ballotti wished the participants the very best and reminded them that they are learning from true experts. He urged the coaches to keep an open mind to new ideas rather than sticking rigidly to old methods, emphasizing that they should take the opportunity as seriously as possible.

The Deputy Minister also urged the coaches to embrace every learning opportunity and use the course as a platform to become better leaders on and off the field.

Ballotti stated that he wanted to correct a past comment he made about coaches automatically transitioning into management. He emphasized that the sport needs great coaches to remain, coaches rather than moving into administrative roles later in their careers. He encouraged them to continue coaching at the grassroots level even if they face setbacks or are between jobs, noting that hard work brings opportunities and a strong track record speaks for itself.

Acting Namibia Football Association Secretary General Mabos Vries welcomed the Deputy Minister and thanked him for taking the time to visit the course. Vries also reminded participants that Ballotti understands the value of coach education, having obtained his CAF B Coaching Licence in 2024. He said programmes such as the CAF B Coaching Diploma play an important role in developing qualified coaches who can help improve the standard of football in the country.

Vries extended his appreciation to the NFA management team and staff for their tireless efforts in ensuring the success of the workshop. He noted that they are collectively building a strong foundation for football development in Namibia, with the workshop marking another important step in that journey.

The CAF B Coaching Diploma continues at the NFA Technical Centre, bringing together coaches from across Namibia to work towards obtaining the CAF B Coaching Licence.
