The NBC Marathon is returning on 8 August with a record 3,000 registered runners, as organisers highlight growing interest in road running and healthy living across Namibia.

The event, which continues to promote fitness through sport, has grown into a major platform that encourages active lifestyles among participants of all ages and fitness levels.

According to NBC Marathon organiser Lucy K Rocco, community support and sponsor backing have driven this year’s historic turnout.

"We already have a record turnout. We've got 3,000 participants who have registered and paid for the NBC Marathon, and the response has been overwhelming. We'd like to thank everyone who registered, as well as the sponsors who came on board to make this year's event possible on the 8th of August," Rocco said.

Preparations for the race have been completed to ensure a safe environment across all divisions, with safety protocols established for both runners and vendors along last year's course route.

Organisers say the marathon caters to a wide spectrum of participants, bringing together families, recreational runners, and competitive athletes.

Rocco added that race logistics are already underway, with the NBC headquarters playing a central role in the event's activities.

"Next week Friday we'll have the goodie bag collection here at the NBC headquarters, which is also where the race will start and finish. Everyone who has registered will receive notifications with all the important information as we count down to race day," she noted.

With 3,000 runners confirmed to take to the streets, the upcoming edition is set to mark the largest turnout in the NBC Marathon's history.
