The Vice President, Lucia Witbooi, has called on graduates to embrace lifelong learning and innovation given the rapidly changing world driven by technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Witbooi was speaking at the 25th graduation ceremony of the International Training College class of 2026.

The 1,200 graduates received certificates, diplomas, degrees and master's degrees in various fields.

Witbooi emphasised that human capital is Namibia's greatest resource, and education should equip graduates with the skills to think critically and contribute to national development.

She says government remains committed to strengthening education, training and skills development as key drivers of economic growth and employment.

"Education is not merely about acquiring qualifications. It is about empowering individuals with the ability to think critically, solve problems, create opportunities and contribute towards the advancement of their communities and the nation."

The Founder and CEO of International Training College Lingua, Ingrid Kloppers-Mettler, says the college was founded on the belief that quality education should be accessible to all, regardless of academic background or personal circumstances.

She further encouraged graduates to create opportunities instead of waiting for employment and said success begins by identifying and solving problems within their communities.

"Never allow your current circumstances to define your future. Don't sit at home waiting for opportunities; become the opportunity. If your first job doesn't come immediately, create one. Success often begins by solving someone else's problem."

The Managing Director of Green Enterprise Solutions, Kehad Snydewel, says qualifications are important, but employers also value integrity, attitude and the ability to work well with others.

He encouraged graduates to see artificial intelligence as a tool to improve productivity rather than as a threat.

"Do not fear artificial intelligence. Embrace it. AI is not a replacement for human creativity, intuition or leadership. It is a powerful catalyst that allows you to focus on innovation, problem-solving and creating meaningful solutions."
