African countries that gained independence decades before Namibia have a role to play in its industrialisation pursuit through investment, value addition and regional trade.

That is the mission behind the Ugandan business delegation in Namibia, led by former State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem, with investors targeting opportunities in various economic sectors. 

He spoke to NBC News after meeting President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House.

"Our political ideology in Uganda is to first and foremost engage and do everything in the spirit of Pan-Africanism. And it's in that spirit, based on my experience as the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, I thought I would take the advantage of coming to Namibia, a country which we are very familiar with. It was a country which was colonised for a long time by an apartheid regime. Our country contributed a lot in the freedom and the fight for Southern Africa with Namibia, and we want to be part of the development, the transformation of Namibia, and the Namibians to also benefit from those countries that got early independence before Namibia. So I have brought strategic investors in the areas of energy, in the areas of agriculture, in the areas of youth empowerment, in ICT, and security. They're all here."
