The Namibian Competition Commission and NBC are moving closer to finalising a five-year partnership agreement.
The Commission's CEO, Vitalis Ndalikokule, and delegation paid a visit to the national broadcaster to formally introduce himself.
During the courtesy visit, Ndalikokule reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to strengthen collaboration with the national broadcaster.
The proposed MoU will focus on public awareness of competition law, empower consumers to identify and report anti-competitive practices, and support businesses in understanding and complying with competition regulations.
“As you are aware, our two institutions are currently in the final stages of formalizing a new comprehensive memorandum of understanding to govern our relationship for the next five years, from 2026 to 2030. We are here to build on that foundation and to signal our readiness to work closely with your institution.”
The partnership is also expected to facilitate the production of documentaries, studio programmes, advertising and digital content, as well as live coverage of major Commission events such as Competition Week.
The NBC's Director General, Menesia Muinjo, welcomed the proposed partnership, saying the broadcaster is ready to begin implementing the areas of cooperation.
“I can only say the work must begin. We will get the technical teams to start working immediately because the marching orders, as we had from the historic engagement that I just referred to, the CEO's forum, were clear and we must just implement. This MOU is adding value to really what is expected from us.”
The partnership will ultimately seek to create a more informed public, promote fair competition and strengthen transparency and accountability within Namibia's marketplace.
