Ongos Valley Group has addressed concerns over the deterioration of two sections of the Eneas Peter Nanyemba Road, saying rehabilitation plans have been submitted to the relevant authorities for approval.
 
The construction of a six-kilometer road began in June 2023, stretching from the A1 Interchange to the Matshitshi Four-Way.
 
It is a dual carriageway as part of the City of Windhoek's Sustainable Urban Transport Masterplan.
 
The Head of Public Relations and Marketing at Ongos Valley Group, Abed Erastus, said that the developer is aware of the concerns and has investigated the causes of the deterioration.
 
“We want to assure the public and key stakeholders that the rehabilitation of these two intersections has our full attention, and we remain committed to delivering a fully functional road by the end of the construction period. We understand and appreciate the public's interest in this matter, and we will continue to deliver transformative infrastructure that uplifts our communities.”
 
The Head of Business Affairs at Ongos Valley Group, Vaughan Petersen, explained that construction is taking place on an active road, with residents still occupying parts of the development area, making the process more complex and time-consuming.
 
 "The City has the mandate and is the only authority allowed to relocate residents from a site, specifically the Petenanyamba Road area. The City has gone through its processes to manage and relocate the residents, as you may be aware from your discussions and interactions with the City. They are now at an advanced stage of the process of removing the remaining residents from the site. I believe there are about 40 residents left.”
 
The developer said it remains committed to completing the road and addressing the affected sections once the necessary approvals are granted.
