National Democratic Party President Lukato Lukato has called for the release of the 2024 Delimitation and Demarcation Commission report, saying Namibians need clarity on the implementation of its recommendations.

Lukato said he petitioned President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on 12 June 2026 over what he describes as a delay in making the report public.

He noted that the President acknowledged receipt of the petition and indicated that stakeholders would engage on the matter before a decision is announced.

“For us this is an important development. It means that the concerns raised by the NDP, and more importantly, the concerns raised by the communities whose voices were carried to the presidency, have reached the highest office of our republic and are receiving attention. The presidency has responded. And now we await the final feedback and the pronouncements from her Excellency the President of the Republic of Namibia.”

The commission recommended seven regional adjustments, 10 new constituencies, and 61 constituency boundary changes, as well as the renaming of two constituencies.

The report was submitted to then-President Nangolo Mbumba by commission chairperson, Acting Judge Petrus Unengu.

Lukato stated that releasing the report would promote transparency and accountability in the implementation of the recommendations.

Responding to questions by Members of Parliament in June on the matter, Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development Evelyn Nawases-Taeyele assured the public that the report would be made public at an appropriate time, dismissing claims that it is being withheld.
