Martin Lukato retains position

The leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Martin Lukato, has been re-elected to lead the party once again at its first-ever congress since its establishment.

The congress was held at Katima Mulilo.

The Congress filled 18 portfolios, with Lukato and David Mwilima retaining their positions as President and Vice President, respectively.

Those who served in the positions of Secretary General, Vice Secretary General, National Chairperson, National Treasurer, Spokesperson, Mobilizer, and Coordinator all retained their positions.

NDP's Simasiku Mukendwa sworn in as councillor

The National Democratic Party's (NDP) Simasiku Mukendwa has finally been sworn in as a councillor in the Katima Mulilo Town Council.

Watson Kalaluka, who was dismissed by the party earlier this year for allegedly staining the party's reputation and neglecting to provide the political party with monthly council reports and comments, was replaced by Mukendwa.

He also reportedly failed to honour a 30% stop-order agreement with the party.

More investment needed in agricultural sector - NDP

The National Democratic Party (NDP) is calling on the Namibian government to invest more in the agricultural sector to address poverty and unemployment.

The party president, Martin Lukato, said that Zambezi Region can become the country's breadbasket but lacks fully fledged agricultural projects such as green schemes that can contribute to the country's development and food security.

NDP replaces Watson Kalaluka with Simasiku Mukendwa

The National Democratic Party (NDP) has replaced Watson Kalaluka on the Katima Mulilo Town Council's management committee with Simasiku Mukendwa.

Kalaluka was removed from his party position for various reasons, including accusations of failing to commit to a 30% contribution from his sitting allowance, refusing to share minutes from council meetings, and engaging in the demolition of illegal housing structures at an informal settlement against the party's wishes.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) has announced that it will recall its representative, Watson Kalaluka from the Katima Mulilo Town Council Management Committee.

In a letter written to the Katima Mulilo Town Council's Chief Executive Officer, the NDP accused Watson Kalaluka of, amongst other things, tarnishing the name and image of the party, failing to honour a 30% stop order agreement with the party, failing to submit monthly reports to the party, as well as failing to give feedback on matters discussed in council chambers.

NDP advocates for a federal governance system

The grassroots politician stated his party's readiness for the 2024 and 2025 national elections.

The NDP leader held an impromptu media conference to share some outcomes of the "party workshop held in Windhoek".

During the briefing with his senior vice president, Brave Mwilima, Lukato says his party is advocating for a federal governance system.
