Zambia's main opposition leader Brian Mundubile who was recently arrested, has been charged with treason along with 17 others.
 
Others charged with the capital offence include Mundubile's running mate and vice president Makebi Zulu.
 
Late former President Edgar Lungu's son-in-law Patrick Mwansa and a prominent businessman, Valden Findlay, are also among the 18.
 
The case stems from the 14th August raid on Mundubile by security forces, where military weapons were discovered.
 
The operation also resulted in a shootout that killed Mutotwe Kafwaya, a former minister and senior member of the Tonse Pamozi Alliance, which sponsored Mundubile's candidature.
 
The 18 remain in custody as the capital offence is unbailable.
