The Ongandjera Traditional Authority has commended the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) for listening to its suggestions and implementing them following engagements held mid-last year.

The remarks were made at the Ongandjera Palace during an engagement between the traditional authority and NBC senior management.

Omukwaniilwa gwaNgandjera Johannes Mupiya said the traditional programmes currently airing on Kati FM continue to assist in preserving cultural norms and values while reaching a wider audience.

He noted that the inclusion of cultural content on the platform is vital for passing on traditions to younger generations.

The traditional authority also expressed satisfaction at learning that the broadcaster now has a dedicated team of reporters across all 14 regions, saying this will ensure timely news coverage without delays.

The traditional authority further applauded the appointment of NBC Director General Menesia Muinjo, expressing confidence in her leadership to steer the national broadcaster to greater heights.

They said they place their trust in her and the NBC leadership to fulfil the corporation’s mandate of informing, entertaining and educating the nation.

The authority also lauded Muinjo for moving out of her office to engage directly with stakeholders on matters central to coverage across NBC’s various platforms.
