A Namibian documentary, Echoes of Omusati, will this Friday premiere in Lusaka, Zambia.

The documentary explores identity, exile and a 37-year reunion. It will be screened exclusively at the Ster-Kinekor cinema at Manda Hill Mall in Lusaka.

Echoes of Omusati is produced by Morna Ikosa and directed by Oshoveli Shipo.

The film follows Ndilimeke, a Zambian-born woman who, after 37 years apart, travels to Namibia’s Omusati Region to meet the father she never knew.

“This film is about the questions we carry when we don’t know where we come from. Ndilimeke’s story is deeply personal, but it belongs to anyone who has ever searched for home," said director Oshoveli Shipo.

Executive producer Morna Ikosa added that the film was created to preserve and share stories of exile and reconnection that are rarely told on screen and to give audiences across the region a story they can see themselves in.

The Lusaka premiere marks a significant moment for cross-border African storytelling, bringing a Namibian production to Zambian audiences for the first time.

Tickets to the premiere are only available via webtickets.

Namibia’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Goms Menette, will be the guest of honour.
