The Rehoboth Agricultural and Industrial Fair has marked its 40th anniversary.

The fair brought together farmers, livestock producers, small businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services.

The three-day event, which concluded today, also focused on the role of technology in creating new opportunities for the town and its residents.

For four decades, the Rehoboth Agricultural and Industrial Fair has provided a platform for local producers and businesses to showcase their products and services.

This year's fair featured small businesses exhibiting their products, while livestock producers displayed cattle, goats and chickens.

The event also provided an opportunity for businesses and community members to connect, trade and explore new opportunities.

Speaking at the fair, Rehoboth Mayor Jackey ǂKhariseb said the 40-year milestone represents more than the passage of time.

"Forty years is more than a number. Forty years represents persistence, enterprise and a tradition built by a generation of people who believe that Rehoboth could build, produce, trade, innovate and prosper."

This year's theme, "Technology Takes Us to the World," placed technology at the centre of discussions on agriculture, business and economic opportunities.

ǂKhariseb said technology is changing how people farm, communicate and conduct business, allowing even small enterprises to reach markets beyond Rehoboth.

He also highlighted artificial intelligence as a technology changing how people work, access information and solve problems.

He cautioned, however, that technological progress comes with responsibility.

"Progress is not simply about moving faster. Progress is about moving forward without losing our humanity along the way."

Organisers say the event remains an important platform for showcasing local production and enterprise.
