Meatco has suspended beef exports following the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and restrictions and control measures introduced by the government.

The company says the financial impact is still uncertain and will depend on the duration of control measures, the status of consignments in transit, and when livestock procurement, slaughter and export markets can resume.

Meatco is working with veterinary authorities, logistics partners and customers to assess consignments already dispatched or in transit. 

It says any decision on returning consignments will depend on veterinary certification and importing country requirements. The company is also assessing the operational and financial impact while supporting efforts to contain the outbreak.
