A farewell meeting between Türkiye's outgoing ambassador to Namibia and President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at State House pointed out the strengthening of relations between the two countries, with cooperation expanding in areas including education, development assistance and humanitarian support. 

Ambassador Feral Oruçkaptan concludes her four-year diplomatic tenure in Namibia, since her arrival in 2022.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed gratitude to the outgoing ambassador for her contribution to bilateral relations, particularly Türkiye's support for Namibian students studying in Turkish universities.

She also acknowledged Türkiye's assistance to Namibia during periods of drought, describing the support as part of the growing cooperation between the two countries.

"During your stay, we really appreciate the strengthening of cooperation between our two countries. Even last year you facilitated the students to go and do their masters, which we really appreciate. And all the support you're giving us, even during difficult times of droughts and what, so we really appreciate it. And we look forward to the one coming to continue. Yes."

She said reciprocal visits between Namibia and Türkiye had helped strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, while annual business missions demonstrated growing interest among Turkish companies in opportunities in Namibia.

A key area of cooperation during her tenure was development assistance through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.

The two countries have also strengthened cooperation in education through Türkiye's scholarship programme.

Oruçkaptan said the number of Namibian students receiving scholarships to study in Türkiye increased from 12 when she arrived in Namibia in 2022 to 22, with seven students currently continuing their studies at Turkish universities.

"One of the most proud parts of my tenure is Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) development projects. I personally enjoyed so much being a part of these projects and handover ceremonies and seeing how they can bring some development in the lives of Namibian people, because we try to diversify these projects in the different parts of the country: north, middle, east, south, west, everywhere. And it gave me the opportunity also to see the several parts of the country. Of course, as you mentioned before, we couldn't forget the solidarity that you have shown us during the earthquake. Personally, you visited our embassy and signed this book. It meant too much for us. For the drought, now it was our time to show our solidarity to your people and the country."

President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed appreciation for Oruçkaptan's contribution and said Namibia looked forward to continued cooperation with Türkiye under the ambassador's successor.
