One hundred and thirty-four young footballers are chasing the chance to take their talent beyond Namibia after international scouts descended on the Rundu Sports Stadium on Saturday, 10 October 2026, to identify promising players aged between 13 and 21 for further development and possible overseas opportunities.
The Rundu trials formed part of a nationwide talent identification programme targeting seven towns across Namibia, including Windhoek, Swakopmund, Oshakati, Gobabis, Keetmanshoop, Otjiwarongo, and Rundu.
Organised by Greener World Soccer Agency in partnership with Pro-Soccer Scouts Netherlands, the initiative sought to identify promising young players and create pathways for them to pursue football opportunities both locally and internationally.
Greener World Soccer Links Academy and Agency Founder Titus Bock-Conteh explained that the initiative was inspired by his experience with talented young footballers in Ghana who had limited access to proper support and development opportunities.
Bock-Conteh noted that the programme placed particular emphasis on safeguarding young participants, requiring parents to sign participation forms for minors and encouraging families to attend the trials at the stadium.
Players who impressed during the regional trials will advance to a three-day scouting phase in Windhoek, where professional video highlights will be produced to showcase their abilities to potential football stakeholders.
To ensure long-term impact, Bock-Conteh confirmed that organisers are establishing a football academy boarding school in Windhoek to provide continued development opportunities for players who are not immediately selected.
With two regions remaining on the scouting schedule, organisers called on the government and local authorities to increase investment in youth football development to transform sport into a viable career pathway for young people.
