The Director-General of the Namibia-NBC has called on entities to collaborate with the national broadcaster to improve national information visibility and support the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) initiatives.
Menesia Muinjo made the remarks during the signing of the five-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the National Road Safety Council.
Muinjo says the broadcaster has the capacity to keep the nation fully informed through its various platforms.
The Director General further noted that partnerships do not necessarily require significant financial investment.
"And it's just great that we team up, and you can also know some of the opportunities that we have as NBC if we come closer. For example, if we become partners and there is something that we need to do, it's not always that you must have some millions, no, or thousands. We are saying, "What do we bring on board as NBC? There is a possibility that we forego the airtime cost."
The MoA, which will cost a minimum of a hundred thousand dollars per month, with an annual cost of more than a million dollars, focuses on awareness campaigns of NRSC on various NBC platforms aimed at road safety education and information.
"There is a lot of work that is being done by the different agencies, but there is no visibility about this work. And also during the big periods in terms of traffic flow, we would also want, there are times when we want NBC to showcase the flow of traffic at certain points of the campaign, especially at the start of history season when people return, especially when people return in January from holidays when they are bringing back their children to school, said Executive Secretary of the NCRST, Ambrosius Tierspoor.
A dedicated team from NBC and NRSC will work on the implementation plan explained by the Chief Commercial Officer at NBC, Nico Mwiya.
"There's going to be yearly monitoring and evaluation just to check if we are still on track, if we are still providing that extraordinary service to the corporation. The MOA talks about in terms of the engagement that we are going to be doing, particularly where you do cutting the nation on the assignment that you do to the nation."
