Two Namibian wrestling officials are enhancing the country's technical expertise after representing Namibia at the Veteran World Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan, where they gained valuable exposure to international refereeing standards.
Namibia's participation at the Veteran World Wrestling Championships formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's pool of qualified technical officials and expose them to international competition standards.
Álvaro Eixab used the championship as an opportunity to advance his refereeing qualifications and work towards obtaining his Level One international referee licence.
He travelled alongside Erika Theron, who earned her Level One international referee licence in 2025 and returned to the international stage to build further experience.
Their involvement underscored the growing emphasis on developing qualified officials capable of supporting wrestling competitions and improving technical standards in Namibia.
The Namibia National Olympic Committee provided financial assistance for the trip, enabling the two officials to participate in the international development opportunity.
As Namibia continues to expand its presence in the sport, the experience gained in Jordan adds to efforts to develop expertise not only among athletes, but also among the officials responsible for maintaining international competition standards.
