The Namibia Sport Commission has officially recognized five new sporting federations over the past two years, expanding the country's organized sporting landscape and creating new pathways for athlete development.

The newly recognized bodies include the Namibia Footgolf Federation, Namibia Western Mounted Game Federation, Tug of War Association of Namibia, Padel Namibia, and the Minifootball Association of Namibia. While several of these disciplines are still developing their participant base, competition schedules, and operational structures, official recognition allows them to formalize within the national sport framework.

However, formal recognition carries strict administrative and governance requirements. To maintain their status, federations must demonstrate sound institutional leadership, verified membership rolls, financial transparency, and a finalized constitution.

Namibia Sport Commission Public Relations and Marketing Officer Given Samulandela emphasized that a federation's constitution must align directly with the Constitution of Namibia to ensure proper governance standards.

The Commission noted that newly recognized federations are initially placed within the recreational category while building their administrative and competitive capacity. During this preliminary phase, support focuses primarily on institutional guidance, regulatory compliance, and capacity building rather than direct financial allocation.

The Commission also provides guidance on administrative procedures, safeguarding protocols, anti-doping compliance, and the application process for awarding national colors for international representation. In turn, federations are required to submit quarterly activity reports detailing administrative progress, gender inclusivity, disability sport integration, and athlete welfare measures.

Samulandela reiterated that the Commission's primary support during this growth stage remains centered on capacity building and human resource guidance to establish sustainable governance.

The Commission maintains that these regulatory procedures ensure long-term sustainability and transparency across all sporting codes. For the five newly recognized federations, the focus now turns toward expanding grassroots participation, establishing developmental programs, and building competitive structures for national and international competition.
