Staff members from the University of Namibia (UNAM) and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) used a social football match at UNAM's Khomasdal Campus on Saturday to sharpen their preparations for the upcoming SAUSSA Games in December.

The encounter gave both institutions an opportunity to test their squads, strengthen cooperation, and build competitive readiness ahead of facing university staff from across the African continent.

The fixture formed part of broader preparations for the Games, which will see university staff from several countries compete. Beyond fitness and match practice, the match allowed both teams to assess their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and build stronger working relationships.

UNAM Staff Team Captain Dr. Abisai Immanuel emphasized the importance of thorough preparation as the team gears up to face regional opponents, noting the objective to compete strongly against visiting institutions from countries such as South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

For NUST, the build-up is focused on using sport to foster institutional collaboration while elevating the level of competition. NUST Staff Team Captain Frans Ndinodiva expressed determination to secure a strong performance, keep the trophy in Namibia, and maximize the networking opportunities provided by the Games.

As the countdown to December continues, both institutions will be aiming for their local preparations to translate into success on the continental stage.
