Members of the Green Valley House Owners Concerned Group marched to the offices of the Katima Mulilo Town Council to protest the monthly deductions on their houses that are not yet completed.

Construction on the houses at Green Valley, a new suburb under Kayunyi Investment, started early last year, and homeowners were promised to move into their new houses by early this year.

However, this did not happen, as none of the homes were completed.

Martin Lubanda, who spoke on behalf of the group, said that they were unhappy with the arrangement of paying for houses that have not been constructed yet. Lubanda said the developer had promised to hand over the houses by the end of October 2022. However, the buyers doubt this as most of the houses are still far from finished.

The group says earlier this year, they wrote to Kayunyi Investment to complain about the delay in completing the house.

Acting CEO at the Katima Mulilo Town Council, Lifasi Ndopu received the petition, which was directed to the Mayor.

Approached for comment, a representative from Kayunyi Investment, who chose to remain anonymous, said the delay was a result of a contractor who has now been fired, and that the first batch of houses is expected to be handed over by the end of October.
