Katima Mulilo residents to get free public Wi-Fi

The Katima Mulilo Town Council and MTC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see the council provide its residents with free public Wi-Fi.

The Katima Mulilo Town Council's Chief Executive Officer, Raphael Liswaniso, said the council, with the help of MTC, aims to revolutionise their customers lives through innovative digital solutions.

RFA, RA determined to rehabilitate national roads

The Road Fund Administration and Roads Authority say they are determined to ensure that the Katima Mulilo roads and national roads leading to neighboring countries are rehabilitated to the required standard.

The two entities signed a cooperation agreement with municipalities and town councils recently.

The Road Fund Administration has entered into an agreement with the Katima Mulilo Town Council to ensure the rehabilitation of key roads in the town, namely Dr. Sam Nujoma Drive and Hage Geingob Avenue.

Roads Authority takes road cleaning-up campaign to Zambezi Region

The campaign, known as "Operation Thunder", is a joint venture between the Katima Mulilo Town Council, the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), the police, the Walvisbay Corridor Group and the Roads Authority.

The objectives of the campaign are to sensitise road users and communities against overloading, as well as the sustainable benefits of keeping the roads clean and the promotion of road safety awareness.

Speaking at the occasion, Divisional Manager of Transport Inspectorate, Richard Milinga, emphasised the importance of the campaign.

Premier holds closed door meeting with Zambezi Regional Council representatives

Prime Minister, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, held a closed-door meeting with representatives of the Zambezi Regional Council, the Katima Mulilo Town Council and the Bukalo Village Council at Katima Mulilo on Friday.

Before the closed-door meeting, Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu briefed the Premier about the security situation in the region and the challenges facing the operations of the green schemes in the region.

Green Valley House owners Concerned Group protests over home loan deductions

Members of the Green Valley House Owners Concerned Group marched to the offices of the Katima Mulilo Town Council to protest the monthly deductions on their houses that are not yet completed.

Construction on the houses at Green Valley, a new suburb under Kayunyi Investment, started early last year, and homeowners were promised to move into their new houses by early this year.

However, this did not happen, as none of the homes were completed.

UNAM, Katima Mulilo Town Council to cooperate in research, capacity building

The University of Namibia and the Katima Mulilo Town Council signed a memorandum of cooperation on Thursday to assist the Town Council with research and capacity building.

UNAM Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu, said as towns grow the university has an obligation to support studies on water, sanitation and other related matters. 

Professor Matengu called upon the Katima Mulilo Town Council to ensure that there's a critical annual plan budgeted for and valued at all costs if the town is to achieve its objectives.
