The Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, in collaboration with the German government, has constructed three new training workshops at the Gobabis Vocational Training Center at a cost of close to N$33 million.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the Gobabis Vocational Training Center, Dr Itah Kandjii Murangi stressed the importance of technical skills.

The minister says most developed countries have prioritized vocational training, and Namibia is heading towards achieving that goal.

Dr Kandji-Murangi reminded the vocational training centres that they should not only serve as training institutions but as production centres as well.

Germany's Deputy Head of Mission, Andreas Götze, says the two countries have a longstanding partnership and Germany will continue to support Namibia's goal of becoming a prosperous and industrialized nation.

Omaheke Regional Governor, Pijoo Nganate, acknowledged the efforts being made by both the government and its international partners to ensure that development is decentralised.
