The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) wants to establish science and technology parks in various towns.

This is contained in a report detailing the status of NUST, which was presented to President Hage Geingob at State House.

Namibia currently does not have regional science and technovation parks, which are usually designed to aid the growth of businesses and tech-savvy communities.

NUST, in its report titled 'Beyond the Pandemic' outlines that these parks, once established, would accelerate national priorities such as green hydrogen production.

Vice-Chancellor Erold ||Naomab says the science and technovation parks would ultimately create pre-conditions necessary for a sustainable tech eco-system.

The establishment of the parks is just one of the ways that NUST is positioning itself to be a research-led and intensive institution.

President Geingob commended the university's leadership for making science and research an integral part of higher learning.

He says such an approach could prevent a mismatch in skills between what is produced by institutions of higher learning and what the job market requires.

NUST also recently partnered with MTC and unveiled a multi-million dollar High-Tech Transfer Plaza Select to foster immersive engagement and increase appetite for the fourth industrial revolution.
