The joint festive safety intervention operation was launched at the Oshiko roadblock in the Oshana Region.
The operation organised by the Roads Authority is aimed at checking on the readiness of motorists for the upcoming festive season.
The invisibility of vehicle number plates and the use of duplicate number plates to commit various offenses were some of the offenses recorded during the operation.
RA's Executive Officer for Transportation Sidney Boois says the undertaking will be extended to other regions and has called on the members of the public to acquaint themselves with the existing laws to avoid hefty fines.
"Public members are not acquainted with the road traffic and transport laws and it should not be misinterpreted that ignorance is an excuse of the law. That should not be regarded as such. However, we should educate the public members on Laws related to loads on vehicles."
The collaboration is between the Roads Authority, Road Fund Administration, Motor Vehicle Accident Fund and the Namibian police and the media.
Oshana Regional Commander, Commissioner Naftal Sackaria says more operations are expected as from next week until January 2023.
"We want them to know that we are in control and that I have brand new traffic officers 10 of them that started last week and that they have targets. So they will be a lot of work going on."
