The SADC Committee of Senior Officials of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation is meeting to discuss the political and security situation in the region.
The gathering is also taking stock of the progress made with a particular focus on the Kingdoms of Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, and the DRC.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation and Chair of the SADC committee of senior officials of the organ, Penda Naanda, has called on the meeting to implement decisions of the Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government held in August.

The proposed amendments to the SADC Mediation, Conflict Prevention, and Preventive Diplomacy Structure Inception Guidelines as well as the proposed amendments to the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections also form part of the agenda.
