A cash-in-transit vehicle of Namibia Protection Services was robbed by armed criminals at Walvis Bay while loading cash boxes during the early hours of Saturday.

The robbers took seven cash boxes collected from various shops that were held inside the vehicle, totaling N$1.6 million.

They also took the security guards' pistols, cellphones, and a Motorola hand radio.

The seven shops in question were Woerman Brock branches in Kuisebmond, Narraville, Seagull, and Shoreline, as well as U-SAVE Kuisebmond, Metro Cash and Carry, and MotoVec.

It is suspected that the robbers used a white Corolla Quest with a GRN license plate attached as a getaway vehicle.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
