With an all-hands-on-deck approach to improve academic performance, the Omaheke Region has embarked on a series of regional consultation sessions aimed specifically at improving academic results among Grade 11 and Advanced Subsidiary level learners.
The two-day engagement is led by the Acting Regional Education Director, Constance Wantenaar joined by circuit inspectors and all school principals in the region.
Wantenaar highlighted discipline amongst secondary school learners as one of the biggest challenges faced by most schools in the region.
The Director emphasized that the time has come to work together as a region, to ensure academic improvement.
The engagement will see an in-depth analysis of results in all subjects, to inform the way going forward.
Wantenaar pointed out that principals can reach out to fellow principals at secondary schools in the region like Epako, Epukiro, and Wennie du Plessis that performed exceptionally well on best practices to achieve better results.
Some of the principals in attendance suggested that more workshops of this nature be held even on a quarterly basis to help schools plan better and implement resolutions taken in the interest of the sector.
