Epukiro Post 3 settlement office is prioritizing the provision of housing this year.

About 350 plots have been serviced at the settlement, and 15 houses are expected to be constructed through the Build Together Programme.

This was revealed by Jazema Kao, Acting Control Administrative Officer of Epukiro Post 3 settlement in an exclusive interview with nbc News.

Kao says, there is a dire need for accommodation, hoping that the serviced 350 plots, will ease the burden on some residents that need shelter.

The construction of new houses, Kao says is also expected to provide jobs to locals, thereby growing the economy of the settlement.

"If you look at those plots, one can say that almost 50 percent of those plots are already in the serviced area and while we are busy trying to connect this, we are engaging the regional council to see how we can extend two water pipes from side A and B to provide water in the meantime to those that will be there, but the line that will be used is a standard one, those that will be nearby can connect through the office while waiting for the official one from government."

Other projects expected to be completed include the re-graveling of settlement roads and some houses under the Build Together Program.

He is also hoping that revenue collection will increase, with improved service provision at the settlement.

Epukiro Post 3 settlement has a population of close to 3 000 inhabitants.
