The traffic congestion in Windhoek's Aoas interchange could be something of the past with the opening of the northern access roads to the Prosperita Industrial Area.

The development marks a significant milestone in Namibia's journey towards industrialization, where access to road infrastructure plays a critical role.

The CEO of the Roads Authority, Conrad Lutombi, revealed that the road was constructed for about N$28 million and was carried out by the Roads Authority in conjunction with the City of Windhoek.

"We experienced some complaints regarding the congestion on the Aoas interchange, We have decided as the Roads Authority to engage with the City of Windhoek to upgrade the road and improve the flow of traffic."

Lutombi added that the Roads Authority aims to open the freeway to the Hosea Kutako airport by December 2024.

He also emphasized the importance of safety, especially at night when lighting conflicts can pose a risk to drivers.

The access road was closed due to the upgrades to the southern parts of the Western Bypass, which are now complete.

The new road has no restrictions on vehicle types as it is situated in an industrial area.

The official opening of the Access to Prosperita Industrial Area is a significant step towards enhancing business operations and creating greater mobility in the country.
