The ||Kharas Regional Council has achieved almost 90% of its activities as contained in 2017 to 2022 strategic plan.

Acting Chief Regional Officer, Benedictus Diergaardt revealed this on the side lines of stakeholders meeting aimed at reviewing the Council's Strategic Plan.

The Council's Strategic Plan is built on pillars that include socio-economic development, stakeholder management and organizational performance.

Diergaardt highlighted as priority areas, the extension of the Luderitz and Oranjemund municipal boundaries, upgrading of roads, housing, green scheme development at Neckartal Dam and construction of school at Luderitz and Keetmanshoop.

"What we have planned, we have achieved, although some of the planned activities were not 100% executed, but most of these things are processed and if we reveal the processes, we definitely say that we have really made strides in finalization or achieve those objectives that we have put there."

||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson Joseph Isaack had this to say.

"Basic Services in terms of the Regional Council is on the roll, there are really, if we could talk about percentage, 70-80 percent has really been covered and we are still continuing, but it is not within the timeframe of the current or expired strategic plan, so therefore, new mandate will come up, and we'll see those areas that we did not cover might be covered in the next five years strategic plan."
