Government attorneys have responded to lawyer Kadhila Amoomo after he wrote to President Hage Geingob and demanded the suspension of the Police chief, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo.

Amoomo who is acting on behalf of activist Michael Amushelelo wrote to the Head of State informing him that police investigations into the matter in which three people died as a result of a car accident in which Shikongo was involved are underway.

In the letter, Amoomo pointed out that despite the ongoing investigation the Inspector General remains at the helm of the police while being investigated by his subordinates. Michael Amushelelo therefore, through his legal representative is demanding that the president as the appointing authority suspend the police chief while investigations are underway.

Advocate Matti Asino, a state attorney in his response to Amoomo says that Government is consulting all stakeholders and will respond in due course.
