2019 Namibia annual sports awards set for Ondangwa

The Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission, Freddy Mwiya, has revealed that the 2019 Namibia Annual Sports Awards will go to the North of the country. After the hosting of the 15th edition of Namibia's Premier Sport event at Swakopmund in 2018, Freddy Mwiya said that they will be on the road again this year with the town of Ondangwa scheduled to host the 16th Namibia Sports Awards in October. Mwiya told NBC that this is in line with the Commission's motto of decentralizing sport in the country - prompting the decision to take the Awards outside Windhoek. This year's Awards are set for the 25th and 26th of October and groundwork has already started with the event organisers and the Local Organising Committee to make sure that they host a successful event. "As it stands currently now my team was already in Ondangwa, Ongwediva, sight inspection that they did together with our corporate sponsors MTC and also the crew from NBC that will also be part and parcel" Mwiya said. Mwiya also said that they will keep with the cinema style they introduced at last year's Awards as they want people to sit back and be part of the event and concentrate on what's happening. He is also certain about support in the North as he believes that the masses in Ondangwa are very supportive. After two years on the road, the Sports Awards will be returning to Windhoek in 2020.
