Appolus wins Bodybuilding Champs

HILENI MATHEUS Jackson Appolus has emerged as the winner of the 2016 Nuclear bodybuilding event, which was held at the Warehouse in Windhoek over the weekend. The annual Nuclear bodybuilding champs saw 22 men and 12 women display their strength in front of the judges. The night, however, belonged to Jackson Appolus, who won the heavy weight category ahead of Renee’ Jacobs, while Stephanus Shikongo took third place. This wouldn't be Appolus' only achievement of the night as he also scooped the biggest trophy of the night when he was crowned overall Nuclear 2016 Bodybuilding Champion. In that category, he beat light weight champion Romario Van Wyk and Middle weight Champion Andries Plaatjies. Appolus went home with N$9000. Appolus, who was confident from the get-go, said:" I was sure from the beginning of the year, until the middle of the year, because I worked very hard. Our first step for next year will be to participate in South Africa and meet with my sponsor”. In the women's fitness category it was Willain Visser, who scooped the first place, leaving Chene’ de Vos in second place, while Natasha Kotze had to settle for third place. Vilka Adams was the winner of the Bikini category as she beat Nancy Garoes and Anri Jacobs. The event organiser, Henk Cloete, said he was very pleased with this year's event. “We've had less participants than last year on the men’s side, but the quality was much better. It’s fantastic that the event has grown a lot since the beginning. I am especially happy about the number of women. That was a huge bonus to us, and there are also a lot of people who got involved in this competition. We really appreciate that." The next event will take place in November 2017.
