The Brave Warriors will have to do without two key defensive players due to suspensions when they take on Comoros on Sunday, 20 August, 15h00, at the Sam Nujoma Stadium for their 2018 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers third round second leg. The fast improving left back Riaan Hanamub and central defender Tiberius Lombard will miss the crucial match against Comoros due to suspensions. Hanamub has given man of the match performance at left back and down the wing with accurate crosses and timely tackles recently, while Lombard have partnered Ferdinand Karongee in central defense. Coach Ricardo Mannetti confirms the suspensions and although it will affect the rhythm of the team, he indicates that it gives other players the chance to rise and be counted as well. Riaan and Tiberius have been solid at the back from the Zimbabwe games to Comoros and now they will miss the most important game thus far but that is football. They have made sacrifices on the pitch and now other Warriors have to step in and fill the positions and make sure we progress, says Mannetti. He reveals that players such as left back Edmund Kambanda and centre back Charles Hambira and Romario Ndjavera now have chance to fight for potions at the back. “We have players that understand what is expected of them and now is the time for them to come in and go down in history with qualification to the CHAN. Like I said before, we can do this with everyone’s support from the guys coming in and the fans in the stands, we can make history as Namibians,” Mannetti reiterates. The team will now have daily training session at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, 15h00 and the medical report is that Roger Katjiteo and Dynamo Fredericks are recovering well from different issues. Katjiteo picked up a hamstring injury while Fredericks is fighting a light bout of flu, which they should overcome in time for the game.
