"IT WAS JUST NOT MY DAY"- INDONGO

The Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing Academy and former World Champion Julius Indongo thanked Namibian fans for the unwavering support they received during the build-up and preparation for their recent undisputed fight. At a press conference hosted earlier today in Windhoek, Nestor Tobias who is Julius Indongo's head trainer as well as promoter, said that they will give the former world champion some time to rest before announcing his next fight. Despite losing his titles in just one day to Terence Crawford last weekend, Tobias reminded the public that Indongo is still one of the top boxers in the world. “I am not celebrating his loss, but we are celebrating his record. He has achieved a lot in a short period of time. It shows that he is a real champion. His record is 23 fights, 22 wins and only one loss,” he added. Tobias explained that Indongo's achievement has also shown the world that Africa can produce champions, from Africa, trained by Africans. Indongo stuck to an earlier statement, saying that he was physically and mentally prepared for Crawford. According to him, it was just not his day. “The 3rd round body punch got me down, it was not painful but it blocked my breathing. The referee’s counts were also too fast and no boxer can quickly recover from that punch in such a period of time,” Indongo said. Both Indongo and his coaching staff admitted to have learned from the fight and promised to work harder in future.
