Namibian sport stars to feature at Regional Annual Sport Awards

Windhoek-It has been announced that Namibian sports stars will form part of the prestigious Regional Annual Sport Awards. These awards will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on the 26th of May 2018. The event, which initially started with only five participating countries, will now see nine member countries taking part in this 3rd edition, according to the AUSC Region 5 CEO Stanley Mutoya. The primary mandate is to encourage all ten members countries to host national sports awards preceding the RASAs. The winners at country level are automatically entered as RASA nominees. Namibia's junior sportman and woman of the year Kickboxer Delano Muller and Charlize van Zyl are therefore automatic entries into the category for the junior sportsman and woman of the year. Julius Indongo and Helalia Johannes are battling it out for top positions in sports man and woman of the year. Para-athletes Johannes Nambala and Lahja Ishitile will compete in the Sportsman and woman of the year with disability categories. Other contestants will be the u20 National Rugby team in the team of the year category and Nestor Tobias in the coach of the year category.
