The organisers of the 7th Rehoboth Community Trust's annual expo, dubbed The Gathering, have described the three-day event as a success.

The event is aimed at creating a platform for small business entrepreneurs to showcase their products, build networks, and expand their client base.

The annual expo takes place in a unique setting among the ancient Acacia trees of Rehoboth, along the southern banks of the Oanob River. These sumptuous surroundings were accentuated this weekend during the Expo, which saw the participation of 30 exhibitors showcasing all types of products, ranging from health products to something to nibble.

Among the highlights of the expo was the increased participation of small stock stud breeders. More than 30 individual stud goat and sheep breeders took part, compared to the first expo, where only six breeders participated.

The Chairperson of the Reho Community Trust, Ronald Kubas, says the animals on display were of the highest quality.

Guest breeders from as far as Keetmanshoop in the south and Aminus in the east also participated.

"We, as the trust, are extremely grateful for the growth that we have had over the years, in particular the growth in the small stock show sector. This year we had a problem; we put up additional kraals, but the day they offloaded them, they informed me they were not enough. So from our side, we are really honoured and privileged to provide a platform for these young breeders."

Officially opening the Expo over the weekend, Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Derek Klazen hailed the event as a vital platform for inter-community collaboration and also an opportunity for the government to collaborate with the community.

"The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has been and will remain a key player in facilitating support for the Rehoboth Community Trust. This we will continue to do as a Ministry because we hold the view that contributions to the local community not only benefit the residents but also stimulate a sense of pride in nationhood and allow the next generation to take up their rightful place as leaders of tomorrow."

This year also witnessed an increase in young breeders and growth in the cycling event and the volleyball tournament, underscoring the interest and development within the Rehoboth district.

The organisers made a commitment to further develop the area to expand and engage the youth, and they invited sponsors to invest in the event.
