Oshikoto Education Director Aletta Eises urged school principals to lead with integrity and determination to unlock learners' potential. Speaking at a one-day induction training in Ondangwa, she advised principals to act as leaders, not bosses, and strive for excellence.
The session, attended by 26 newly appointed principals, aimed to equip them with operational knowledge and skills to enhance performance. It covered systems, processes, and procedures within the directorate, clarifying roles and expectations.
Eises emphasized the importance of understanding and upholding the region's educational brand. "This is the brand we love, protect, defend, and work for, setting high standards and providing quality education for Oshikoto learners," she said.
Principals were urged to protect their profession, maintain high standards, and inspire teachers and learners to excel. Eises linked education to sustainable development goals, stating that without it, neither Vision 2030 nor Africa's Agenda 2063 can be achieved.
She also stressed the need for principals to be well-versed in policies and set examples for teachers. "Only when you are reading will you comply with the rules and set examples," she said.
Eises called on educators to avoid public alcohol consumption, emphasizing the need to maintain respect and professionalism. "We are teachers from the upper class; we must know our places and set good examples in our communities," she concluded.
