No athlete should pay money to be part of national trials - NSA

The Namibia Sports Commission has warned sport federations against charging athletes to be part of national trials. In a communique sent out today, the Chief Administrator of the Association, Freddie Mwiya, said it had come to his attention that some sport codes are unlawfully charging fees from prospective athletes to take part in national trials. He explained that such practices need to stop with immediate effect as they amount to financial discrimination against sportsmen and women from disadvantaged backgrounds. Athletes and their parents, are facing such discriminatory action, are urged to report these practices to the office of the Namibia Sports Commission. Sports codes who wish to raise funds should to do so on a voluntary basis.
