Okahandja-The chairman of the newly promoted Okahandja United FC, Congo Hindjou, officially appointed former Tigers coach Woody Jacobs as the head coach of that club at the Okahandja town hall on Thursday. Jacobs will be assisted by Frans Karigub who was the former head coach and Richard Gariseb as 2nd assistant. Jacobs had resigned as Tigers coach earlier this week. The media briefing was attended by members of the town council, the Okahandja United FC executive members and the team's supporters. Former Brave warriors midfielder Congo Hindjou showed himself confident that Jacobs is the right man for the job, as he previously won the premier league, multiple trophies as well as relegation battles before. “The coach that we brought in, his C.V does not need any introduction. He has been there in Football coaching for the past twenty years, coaching in the highest league in the country and the National U/17 team. He has been winning leagues, winning trophies, coaching the top three teams such as Black Africa, African Stars and Orlando Pirates. He has been coaching teams that were in the relegation zone” Hindjou said. On his part, Woody Jacobs was also positive about taking over at Okahandja United FC as he is aiming for a top 8 finish in the premiership. Jacobs further said he plans on working with locally based players and will only strengthen the team if needed. “From a Footballing point of view it's an enormous task. It's a new team. People must not say he is not going to make it, but I believe if we pull out all the stops we can make this. I am not here to fight relegation , it's not my nature. I can assure you the residents of Okahandja that this team will compete. We are going to make the Nau-Aib stadium a fortress. We are going to make it a cemetery to bury people. Nobody will come here to this town and take points from us. I can assure you of that” Jacobs said. Jacobs will face a tough task this weekend, as Okahandja United are scheduled to face two giants of Namibian football: Orlando Pirates at 15h00 and Black Africa at 17h00 at the Nau-Aib Stadium in Okahandja on Saturday.
