Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to develop impactful programmes aimed at addressing social and economic challenges.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made these remarks during her address at the gala dinner of the Public Enterprises CEO's Forum held in Grootfontein.

In her address, Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed her appreciation for the theme of effective corporate governance in public enterprises. She spoke highly of the importance of strong governance practises within these entities.

Several State Owned Enterprises reiterated their commitment to finance agricultural activities to ensure food security in the country.

The commitments were made by the Agribank, DBN and the Environment Investment Fund at a three-day workshop on food security in Windhoek.

Under the Malabo and Maputo declarations, African governments are expected to spend at least 10 percent of their national budgets on the agriculture sector.
