The matron at Rundu Intermediate Hospital, Martina Hausiku, says a number of elderly patients had a lot of questions after they found out about the death of Dr. Hage Geingob.

When the news broke that Dr. Hage Geingob had died, various Namibians were either at home or on their way somewhere else. 

But a large majority found out about his death while admitted to the hospital. The elderly patients, especially, had a lot of questions for the hospital staff. 

Katima Mulilo border 24hr operation increases patients

Health facilities in the Zambezi Region have been experiencing an increase in the number of patients treated since the Katima Mulilo Border Post turned to operating 24 hours per day.

The Managing Director of Enkerhaus Private Hospital in Katima Mulilo, Dr. Ernest Kombo, said the influx requires more support from the private sector for the Katima Mulilo Hospital to provide prompt and quality healthcare services.

Enkerhaus Private Hospital acted on its word, donating medical equipment valued at N$300,000 to the facility.

Katima Mulilo Hospital clean-up

The Rob Youth Foundation has taken its clean-up campaign to Katima Mulilo Hospital in an effort to provide a safe environment for patients and workers.

Rob Foundaton's Regional Manager for Zambezi, Maria Iikela, told nbc News that the clearing operation is aimed at forging a spirit of unity and responsibility among the youth towards the community.

This will also create awareness about community service.

Patients unable to afford oxygen concentrators stuck in hospital despite being discharged

Patients who depend on oxygen concentrators but cannot afford them are often stuck in hospitals.

While taking up a much-needed bed, they are also frustrated about staying away from family members for too long.

49-year-old Solastika Vendura from Mazana Village in the Kavango East Region is one of those who have been in the Rundu State Hospital for eight months now.

She was diagnosed with a lung condition and diabetes and has been admitted to the Rundu State Hospital since last November.
