Walvis Bay community condemns Madisia and Mulundu's not guilty verdict

Community members at Walvis Bay have condemned the not-guilty verdict of Azaan Madisia (30) and her brother and co-accused, Steven Mulundu (25).

The pair stood accused of murdering 22-year-old Shannon Wasserfall, a close friend of Madisia, in April 2020. 

The community at the harbour town was totally shocked by the gruesome discovery of Wasserfall's remains a year after she disappeared, and many speculated as to who the perpetrator or perpetrators were.

Wasserfall's murder trial postponed

High Court Judge Christie Liebenberg has postponed the trial of murder suspects Azaan Madisia and Steven Mulundu to March 27 and 28 for closing arguments.

The siblings are alleged to have committed the murder of Shannon Wasserfall in April 2020 and thereafter buried her body in a shallow grave in the dunes of Walvis Bay.

The prosecution has presented its case, calling multiple witnesses and presenting evidence, including forensic evidence, to support its case against the accused.

State questions Madisia and Mulundu's apologies

The State has questioned the timing of murder accused Azaan Madisia and her brother Steven Mulundu's apology to the family of the late Shannon Wasserfall.

The two are on trial for Wasserfall's murder in April 2020 and had been hiding the evidence of the deed until the body was discovered in a shallow grave outside of Walvis Bay in October of that year.

Testifying in their own defense, both Madisia and Mulundu offered their apologies to the bereaved family.

Azaan Madisia justifies internet searches

Murder accused Azaan Madisia has apologized to the court and her victim Shannon Wasserfall's family for the fatal incident, saying she wishes she had spoken out earlier.

Madisia told the court that her internet search on how long forensic reports take in Namibia was for personal reasons and was in no way related to the "Shannon Wasserfall" case.

Madisia testified that she is an avid watcher of the Discovery and National Geographic channels, hence her interest in the subject matter.

The trial of accused murder siblings, Azaan Madisia and Steven Mulundu will commence at the Windhoek High Court tomorrow 
At the harbor town of Walvis Bay, about, two years back,  the disappearance of 20-year-old Shannon Wasserfall grew traction.

The young mother went missing in April 2020, and the discovery of her body, in a shallow grave,  in October, about six months after her alleged murder.

It is alleged that Shannon was close friends with Azaan Madisa.
